Meet the Team

Denise Brown, a native of Allentown, Pennsylvania,  attended PSD and graduated in 1982. She graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Social Work from Gallaudet University in 1987, and a Master of Arts in Deafness Rehabilitation from New York University in 1989.

Denise Brown currently is a Representative with the Office for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (ODHH). As a Representative, Denise wears numerous hats. One day she may be providing a training on hearing loss or interpreters to state agencies such as Area of Aging, the next day she is advocating for services for Pennsylvania Senior Citizens who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing, and the next day she is aiding an organization that is creating policy and procedures for contracting with interpreters or CART services. Brown has over 23 years of diverse experiences while working to promote the inclusion of Pennsylvanians who are deaf, deafblind, or hard of hearing.

Denise joined PSD’s Alumni Association for a long time and she is a proud member of PSD Class of 1982 and PSDAA. Because of the history and dedication of PSD, PSDAA officers and alumni had contributed their time and efforts by having various events. She wants to emphasize on how important the gathering is to her – seeing old and new friends; having good memories; exchanging news and most of all, being present. With that belief and value, she wants to contribute back to PSD by being involved in the alumni association. She was elected as Executive Vice President from 2018 to 2021. She is elected as President from 2021 to 2024.
